I was in charge of look development, product animation, FX lookdev, and full production for the Xbox Series X & S launch, commissioned by Wunderman Seattle. My renders were used as the main hero art across Xbox’s official websites worldwide, resulting in the very first thing users saw when landing on the page.
These idents served as the official reveal videos for the consoles, accompanied by key visuals showcasing the Xbox Series X’s new spatial sound technology. All assets were crafted to introduce the next generation of consoles developed by Microsoft.
Short in runtime but long in development, over a period if 6 months, a total 200 renders were produced showing alternatives in FX, Camera Movement, Lighting, Controler placement animation, and the most troublesome point, coordinating between publishers alteranatives of which games to showcase, in which order and with which footage.
I led client calls and worked directly with the Xbox team to develop the FX look that would accurately represent the key differentiators of the new console generation. Focusing on Spatial Sound Technology, we iterated closely with the client to define a visual language that captured the sensation of sound when playing on the new Xbox Series consoles.
To support rapid iteration during weekly review rounds, we implemented a pipeline using EmberGen, a real-time VFX and physics simulator, to develop particle effects efficiently and with maximum creative flexibility.
